Software Licensing and Credits
The licensing systems ECU Hero software can use, and the rules that come with them.

- Genuine Windows only
Unofficial, cracked or non-activated Windows isn’t supported, and neither are virtual or emulated machines.
- Licenses move with you
A license is linked to your account or scantool, so it can move between computers and phones.
- Internet required
Registration and use need internet access. There is no offline activation.
Utilizing unofficial, non-genuine, cracked or non-activated Windows versions is not supported; this can result in unexpected startup errors or licensing problems. All software developed by ECU Hero is not supported in a virtual or emulated environment/machine; attempting to do so will result in an instant termination of license without any refund or compensation of losses.

ECU Hero may use licensing systems which can include, but are not limited to:
- Token/Credit Licensing Per ECU/Module
- Time Based Subscription Licensing
- Licensed to Scantool
- A combination of 1, 2 and 3
All of our licensing systems allow migrating licenses between computers/phones as the license is linked to the account or scantool in use.
Additional Information for Scantool Based Licensing
If a scantool is LOST or DESTROYED, then a replacement scantool’s unique signature can replace the original tool’s with an admin fee of $49 USD. Please note this admin fee is our processing time to replace all old scantool licenses with the new scantool license, this fee does NOT include a replacement scantool.
Additional Information for Token/Credit Based Licensing (Hero Token and Sidekick Token)
Software Tokens can only be used once to register/license the requested item. No refunds or replacement tokens are supplied if the customer changes their mind or incorrectly licenses the wrong item/product. The cost of credits can change without any prior acknowledgement at any time (such as promotions). The required number of tokens needed per ECU/Module/item can change without any prior acknowledgement at any time.
Tokens are not exchangeable or transferable to other accounts, and can only be used for ECU Hero software.
Internet Access and License Terminations
ALL licenses can be revoked and terminated without refund and without any prior acknowledgement if it is found that the end user’s usage of the application does not comply with our terms and conditions (hacking, cracking, etc.).
ALL of our software requires internet access for registration and usage; there is no offline activation available. This is used for updating license details and software changes. Failure to comply will result in application termination until internet access is provided; there is no offline option available.
All applications will automatically alert ECU Hero of any attempts to tamper with token/subscription and/or any part of the application; this will result in immediate license termination without refund. This will also result in blacklisting/banning the scantool unique signature from being used with any future products or systems.
